Check One, Check Two, Check.

On a Wednesday afternoon, I am piecing together the layout of my very first blog.  Well, that isn't completely accurate.  I once participated in creating a blog for a college level course in English Composition.  The professor thought it would be beneficial to publicly post our thoughts on articles and literary works we had read.  However, these articles were only viewed by other classmates and weren't truly public.

In any event, I am not sure what I am going to make of this blog - I am bent on creating a blog aimed at public health, sociobiology and evolutionary medicine.  Lately, my reading has been a culmination of evolutionary and public health literature.  Those two areas of study are incredibly fascinating to myself.  Natural Selection is a beautiful vehicle for change not only in the natural world, but in many facets of our technological lives.

Medicine and Public Health are a perfect arena for Natural Selection to spread its evolutionary wings.  The efficacy of our modern approach to a healthy society is not only dependent on tracking the changes of a bacteriophage, but also on analyzing the evolving faces of how society goes about addressing, delivering and financing health care - from mandated quarantine in late medieval and pre-modern European society to HMO's of the later 20th century.

Through re-iteration of ideas and constructive dialouge, I hope this blog helps facilitate my understanding of these issues.  This blog will act as an additional place for me to excercise my knowledge and challenge those inclinations which I acquire along the way.
